Ashley Zazoua Bowes. Born in Glasgow, 1987.
I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans artist moving image, product/prop/graphic/textile design, installation, photography, field recording, performance, varied forms of writing and more. Reoccurring themes in the work are social class, identity, interiority, human relationship with digital technology, individual and social relationships to urban and natural landscapes.
Academic experience includes - Ba Hons in Design for Industry (Northumbria University), MA in Creative Arts Practice (Newcastle University), MRes in Anthropology, Art and Perception (University of St Andrews). Currently undertaking a PhD in Social Anthropology (University of St Andrews), recipient of an ESRC-SGSSS scholarship. The PhD is an anthropological focus on socio-economic precarity and how this affects women’s engagement with and appreciation of creativity and the arts in its myriad forms.
